The High-Converting Product Page UX Checklist
The Product Detail Page (PDP) is the "moment of truth." It is where browsing turns into buying. If your UX is confusing, slow, or untrustworthy, you lose the sale. Here is the Ogray Design checklist for a high-converting PDP.
1. Clear Visual Hierarchy
Don't make the user hunt for information. The Product Title, Price, and "Add to Cart" button should be the most dominant elements on the page. Secondary info like SKU numbers or shipping policies should be less prominent.
2. Sticky Add-to-Cart
On mobile especially, product descriptions can get long. As the user scrolls down to read reviews or specs, the "Add to Cart" button disappears. Implement a sticky bar at the bottom of the screen that keeps the CTA always available.
3. Social Proof Placement
Star ratings shouldn't just be hidden at the bottom. Place the star summary right under the product title. Seeing "4.9 Stars (500 Reviews)" immediately validates the product before the user even looks at the price.
4. Handling Out of Stock
Never just say "Sold Out" and hit a dead end. Use a "Back in Stock" email notification form. This captures intent and builds your email list, turning a negative experience into a future lead.
5. Image Gallery UX
Images should be zoomable and swipeable on mobile. Include video if possible—product videos increase conversion rates by up to 80%. Ensure your thumbnails clearly indicate which color variant is selected.
6. Shipping Transparency
Answer the question "When will I get it?" immediately. Use dynamic geolocation to say "Estimated delivery to New York: Nov 28th" rather than a generic "3-5 business days."
